Pelosi Will Vote On Impeachment This Week But May Wait 100 Days To Send To Senate (VIDEO)
House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn, (D-SC) said that the House will vote on articles of impeachment against President Trump this week but may delay sending them to the Senate for 100 days.
McConnell stated he will not take up any articles of impeachment sent to the Senate because there is not enough time before the President leaves office.
In a memo McConnell wrote:
Although the Senate will hold two pro forma sessions next week, on Jan. 12 and Jan. 15, it is barred from conducting any kind of business during those days — including “beginning to act on received articles of impeachment from the House” — without agreement from all 100 senators. With a cadre of Trump-allied senators in the Republican conference, that unanimous consent is highly unlikely.
Democrats are obsessed with going after President Trump and there isn’t any legal precedence for impeaching a President who is no longer in office. If Democrats successfully impeached President Trump after he left office it would carry no actual meaning.
Even Clyburn said he has concerns that impeaching the President could harm Biden’s first 100 days in office.
“Yes, I do have concerns,” Clyburn told CNN’s “State of the Union” when asked about whether impeachment could slow Biden’s agenda. “And so does Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi.”
He added: “Let’s give President-elect Biden the 100 days he needs to get his agenda off and running, and maybe we will send the articles sometime after that.”

Senator Lindsey Graham said that the Senate cannot process any articles of impeachment before January 20th and he wouldn’t support impeaching the President.
Completely agree with @senatemajldr’s analysis that the Senate cannot process the impeachment being contemplated by the House before January 20. I firmly believe impeachment would further destroy our ability to heal and start over. https://t.co/fZUC8El2ND
