Pence Goes from Media Darling to the Doghouse Over Jan. 6 Committee – Watch
One moment you can be a media darling, and the next moment you can be in the dog house. Take for instance Liz Cheney. For years, she was a warmongering politician who’s father was Darth Vader, an then in a moment when spoke out against Donald Trump she was the apple of the press’s eye.
Former Vice President Mike Pence had that moment recently. He went from Trump’s mini-me to a media darling when he spoke out against his former boss and his handling of the January 6th attack on the Capitol. But Pence’s darling time is officially over because he refused to speak to the January 6 committee. And the media especially hated his explanation why he chose not to testify and called him a coward.
The media was just shocked when Pence said no to the committee because he has a critically important perspective as a focus of the crowd’s passion, and he has already been vocal in previous media interviews and in his own book.
They don’t care that Pence presided over the peaceful transfer of power, they don’t care hat he has been an outspoken critic of the former president, they don’t care that he leaned toward the acceptable part of the Republican Party. He took a step out of line and now the darlin’s in the doghouse.
Pence is likely aware that no matter what MSNBC says, the January 6th committee is running out of time and soon it won’t even exist. When the GOP retakes the House, the partisan project will be killed, so Pence has no real incentive to let them pick him apart.
In a recent interview with NPR, Pence was asked he if considers Trump to be a good man. He gave a rather long reply about some of the important achievements Trump had made but said he was “wrong” on January 6. He ended his answer with, “I truly do believe that only God knows our hearts,” he added. “And I’ll leave it to others to make their own judgments.”
Mike Pence is refusing to speak to the Jan. 6 committee — and his explanation to justify such cowardice simply doesn’t make any sense. https://t.co/PvKQcfjM8E
