Pence Makes Radical Statement on Trump at CNN Town Hall – Watch
Former Vice President Mike Pence said on Sunday that former President Donald Trump “should never be president again” during a CNN town hall.
Pence, the former Indiana congressman, governor, and Trump VP, talked about Jan. 6, why he wants to be president, abortion, Ukraine, and a variety of topics in the 90-minute talk with host Dana Bash.
Here’s what Pence had to say about Jan. 6: “…I felt that he was asking me to choose between him and the Constitution. I chose the Constitution. And I always will. I said today President Trump was wrong then, he’s wrong now.”
When asked whether he would support Trump if he becomes the GOP nominee, the former VP said: “Anyone who puts themselves above the Constitution should never be president in the first place. And anyone who asks anyone else to put themselves over the Constitution should never be president again.”
“The President of the United States has to be someone who can unite the country,” Pence said. “He has to be someone who can bring us together. He has to be someone who can lead us forward. Donald Trump is not that person. He should never be president again.”
He also said that he would not pardon those convicted for the Jan. 6 riot.
“You know, on the day of January 6, I issued a tweet demanding that people leave the Capitol. And grounds.
I said that those that failed to do that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and I continue to believe that today.”
This is the reason Pence said that he is running for the presidency:
“Now more than ever, I think those of us that have the experience to bring back real change and to put America back on a track of common sense, conservative principles have a responsibility to step forward.”
Mike Pence when asked if he would pardon any J6 prisoners
“I have no interest or no intention of pardoning those that assaulted police officers, or vandalized our Capitol.”
