People Contact Musk Project
Here’s the story, folks: a whistleblower has stepped up with a jaw-dropping claim that’s putting one federal worker, Antonio Carraway, in the hot seat—and under the sunny skies of Florida, no less.
The allegations? Carraway, a HUD employee based in Washington, D.C., has been cashing in on his cushy D.C. paycheck while reportedly living the good life down in Port Saint Lucie.
You’d think a government job would require, well, showing up, right? But according to the whistleblower’s account and Sen. Joni Ernst’s investigation, Carraway has managed to keep his federal salary flowing, all while allegedly moonlighting as a Florida-based real estate professional. That’s right: taxpayers might be funding this “Florida Man’s” alleged side hustle. And Ernst? She’s not taking it lightly.
Ernst, who’s been working closely with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as part of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative, is determined to root out what she calls “bureaucratic freeloaders.”
In a letter to HUD’s Acting Secretary Adrienne Todman, Ernst outlined her findings. Legal documents connected to Carraway reportedly show years of Florida residency, including housing discrimination complaints, LLC filings, and even legal battles in a Florida court as recently as this year.
The kicker? Carraway reportedly never stepped foot in the office during this time, instead claiming he was engaged in taxpayer-funded union activities (TFUT). Ernst didn’t mince words, calling him a “comedic headline at taxpayers’ expense” and pledging swift action to ensure bureaucrats are either doing their jobs or losing them.
And this isn’t the first time Ernst has blown the whistle. Earlier this year, she uncovered a HUD employee who allegedly collected a paycheck while serving jail time for a DUI.
It’s all part of a broader crackdown on telework abuses, which skyrocketed during the pandemic. Ernst’s proposed REMOTE Act aims to implement software tracking federal workers’ productivity and force agencies to justify the costs of telework.
