President Trump Taps Dr. Casey Means For US Surgeon General
In a move as strategic as it is symbolic, President Donald Trump has abruptly replaced his original nominee for U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, with a figure rising rapidly in America’s wellness movement: Dr. Casey Means. The decision, announced Wednesday on Truth Social, marks a dramatic pivot not just in personnel, but in philosophy.
Dr. Means, a Stanford-educated physician and bestselling author of Good Energy, has built her reputation by challenging the norms of modern medicine. A former ENT surgeon who grew disillusioned with treating symptoms instead of causes, she left traditional practice to launch a mission rooted in metabolic health, nutrition, and preventative care. Her nomination now places her at the helm of America’s top public health office — and at the heart of the “Make America Healthy Again” movement, or MAHA.
President Trump just nominated Dr. Casey Means as Surgeon General! 🔥
This is a HUGE win for MAHA.

Trump’s announcement was emphatic: “Casey has impeccable ‘MAHA’ credentials,” he said, praising her academic background and “life’s work in wellness.” He made clear that Means will work closely with another unconventional health leader — Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Together, the duo is tasked with what the president describes as a historic mission: to “reverse the Chronic Disease Epidemic, and ensure Great Health, in the future, for ALL Americans.”
The shakeup left questions about Nesheiwat’s role. Though Trump stated that RFK Jr. “looks forward to working with Dr. Janette Nesheiwat in another capacity at HHS,” no details have emerged about what that position might be — or why her nomination was pulled in the first place.

But the choice of Means is anything but ambiguous. Her appointment signals a dramatic break from establishment medicine. Chronic illness, ultra-processed food, sedentary lifestyles, and pharmaceutical overreach — these are the enemies Means and the MAHA movement have long railed against. In fact, her public critiques of Big Food and Big Pharma, once fringe, have now gone mainstream in conservative health circles.
The nomination was met with jubilant support across the wellness and conservative influencer world. From author and activist Vani Hari screaming with joy to influencer Isabel Brown sharing tearful gratitude while cradling her newborn, the response was emotionally charged. “This is a HUGE win for MAHA,” posted Holden Culotta, sharing a video of Means testifying passionately before a Senate roundtable.
