Psaki Embarrasses Joe, Gave Out A Little Too Much Info – WATCH
The Biden administration has been praised for its commitment to transparency and communication with the American public, but a recent slip–up from a former White House Press Secretary–turned–pundit has called that into question.
On Monday morning‘s episode of Morning Joe, former Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked to weigh in on President Biden‘s speech about two bank failures that shook stocks on Wall Street and sent ripples through global markets. But instead of emphasizing the substance of Biden‘s remarks — the president insisted Americans “should feel confident“ after the biggest bank failures since 2008 — Psaki decided to make her point about the timing of his remarks.
“It‘s important to note, President Biden does nothing at 9:00 AM,” Psaki said, apparently not realizing the quip wouldn‘t land the way she intended. “He is a night owl,” Psaki continued, “so the fact that he is doing this at 9:00 AM anyway speaks to how vital the White House recognizes it is for him to have his voice out there conveying that to the American public.”
However, a closer look at Biden‘s routine shows that he is not, in fact, a night owl. CNN Politics reported that Biden is more of an early–to–bed type, with a regular schedule that includes coffee in the mornings with the first lady, meetings and phone calls from the Oval Office starting just after 9 a.m., and a return to his residence by 7 p.m.
It‘s clear that Psaki‘s statement was inaccurate, and it‘s understandable why the White House would be concerned. After all, the Biden administration has been working hard to cultivate a positive image by being open and honest with the American people. The administration‘s credibility could be threatened by inaccurate statements like this one.
