Republican Historic Win In Democrat Stronghold Spells Bad News For Dems In 2022
An election in South Texas was a big win for Republicans and bad news for the Democrat party.
The mayoral election in McAllen, Texas has showed a shift in Hispanic voters showing that they have drifted to the GOP post Trump presidency.
It was a close race, Republicans Javier Villalobos defeated Democrat Veronica Whitacre in a border city that is 85% Hispanic that is in a county that went to Biden by 17 points.
Analysts believe that part of the reason for the victory is because of Biden’s terrible border policy that is putting incredible amounts of stress on border towns.
The Republican win is historic when you compare it to elections since 2008.
McAllen, Texas (Hidalgo County):
2008: Obama +39
2012: Obama +42
2016: Hillary +41
2020: Biden +17
2021 mayor: GOP +3

The results show that in south Texas hispanics are moving away from Democrats and toward America First.
Amazing news! McAllen, Texas is a major border town of 140,000 people. 85% Hispanic — and just elected a Republican mayor.
The macro realignment accelerates in South Texas, and elsewhere, as Hispanics rally to America First:

This isn’t just the GOP trying to drum up a win to look good, Democrat operatives in the area are sounding the alarm. Sawyer Hackett who was a Texas Democrat operative said that if “the Democratic Party doesn’t get serious about Latino outreach, we’re in big trouble.”
A GOP county chair just won a race for mayor of McAllen, Texas, a city that’s 85% Latino. Hillary won the county by 40 points.
If the Democratic Party doesn’t get serious about Latino outreach, we’re in big trouble.

Holy cow… Republicans just flipped the mayorship of McAllen, Texas.
This was not expected and shows Hispanics in South Texas may have shifted with the GOP even post Trumphttps://t.co/bFOMpNcNrS
