Republican Senator Tim Scott Takes Aim at ‘The View’ – Watch
Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina took aim at the liberal talk show “The View” on Monday, saying that he scares the “Dickens out of the radical left.”
Scott made the remarks during Sen. Joni Ernst’s (R-IA) annual “Roast and Ride” event, where candidates get a chance to meet with voters who are politically engaged and who participate in the state’s GOP presidential caucus. He was asked by a reporter about his recent appearance on “The View,” where he clashed with the hosts over issues such as race and abortion.
Scott began his speech by giving a short story about socks and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who is very into socks, before launching his attack on “The View.”
“My socks said ‘hogwash’ on them,” Scott said. “While I think about hogwash, it just makes me think about ‘The View.’”
“Anybody watch ‘The View’ on TV?” Scott asked the audience, which began to boo.
“Good, good. I am in the right place,” he said. “I’m going on ‘The View’ on Monday because I think it’s time for a conservative with a backbone to look those ladies in the eyes and say, ‘You do not have to be an exception to succeed in America; you can be the rule and succeed in America.’”
“I think I scared the Dickens out of the radical left,” Scott said. “They were not expecting a black conservative to come on their show and challenge them on their views.”
Scott went on to say that he is not afraid to speak his mind, even if it means going against the liberal orthodoxy.
“I’m not going to be a politician who is afraid to stand up for what I believe in,” he said. “I’m going to be a politician who is going to fight for the people of this country.”
Scott’s comments were met with applause from the crowd in Iowa. He is seen as a rising star in the Republican Party, and his potential candidacy for president has generated excitement among conservatives.
