RFK Jr. Confirmed By Senate
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has officially stepped into his new role as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), marking the beginning of what could be a transformative era in U.S. health policy. Sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch in the Oval Office, Kennedy took the oath of office with his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, and his children by his side. His confirmation in the Senate, secured by a narrow 52-48 vote along mostly party lines, underscores the deep political divisions surrounding his appointment.
For Kennedy, the moment carried deep personal and historical significance. After the ceremony, he recalled his first visit to the Oval Office in 1962, where he met with his uncle, President John F. Kennedy, to discuss environmental issues.
Social media please mute all mentions of RFK Jr for the time being because he is a reprehensible dick in what is frankly a crowded field and I could not sleep last night (though his appointment was not a surprise)

That connection to the past was not lost as he took on a role that will place him at the helm of the nation’s most influential health agency. But for Kennedy, the mission is clear: tackling America’s growing chronic disease epidemic.
“For 20 years, I got on my knees every morning and prayed that God would put me in a position where I could end the childhood chronic disease epidemic in this country,” Kennedy told attendees. “On Aug. 23 of last year, God sent me President Trump.”
It’s a remarkable turn of events. Kennedy, long known for his vaccine skepticism and fierce critiques of Big Pharma, ran an independent campaign for the White House in 2024 before ultimately endorsing Trump. The decision surprised many, especially given Trump’s previous attacks, in which he labeled Kennedy a “radical left liberal” and a “Democrat plant.”

The two men sparred openly on social media, with Kennedy dismissing Trump’s critiques as a “barely coherent barrage of wild and inaccurate claims.” Yet, in the end, the alliance was forged, and now Kennedy is in a powerful position to reshape America’s health landscape.

His appointment was not without controversy. Sen. Mitch McConnell, the only Republican to vote against Kennedy, made clear that his opposition was rooted in Kennedy’s views on vaccines. “I’m a survivor of childhood polio,” McConnell stated. “In my lifetime, I’ve watched vaccines save millions of lives from devastating diseases across America and around the world. I will not condone the re-litigation of proven cures.”

Despite the opposition, Kennedy now has the opportunity to implement his vision for health policy. Under the banner of “Make America Healthy Again,” he aims to shift the focus of HHS from reactive medical treatments to preventative health measures. His agenda includes overhauling dietary guidelines, combatting ultra-processed foods, and addressing the root causes of chronic disease—issues that have long fueled his reputation as an outspoken critic of the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Putting RFK Jr in charge of our nation’s health is like putting Jeffrey Epstein in charge of child safety.

Kennedy’s appointment also signals a broader shift in the political landscape. Once a staunch Democrat, he has built alliances with conservative and populist movements, in large part due to his skepticism of government mandates, pharmaceutical influence, and corporate-backed public health policies. His appointment reflects Trump’s willingness to bring anti-establishment voices into his administration, even those who were once political adversaries.
