Rosenstein Devastates CNN and MSNBC After Inspector General Report Released
You may not have always like how Rosenstein conducted himself but, on Thursday he pulled no punches….
Former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein took to twitter after the report about James Comey and the news he would not be prosecuted was released on Thursday.
To start Rosenstein didn’t mention Comey by name in his tweet.
“It is important for the Department of Justice to follow established policies and procedures, especially when the stakes are high,” Rosenstein wrote.
“It is important .. to follow established policies and procedures, especially when the stakes are high…. We should be most on guard when we believe that our own uncomfortable .. circumstances justify ignoring .. principles respected by our predecessors.” https://t.co/rJNZ0Hr20k

“It may seem tempting to depart from Department policies and traditions in an effort to deflect short-term criticism, but such deviations ultimately may cause a loss of public confidence in the evenhanded administration of justice,” Rosenstein added. “We should be most on guard when we believe that our own uncomfortable present circumstances justify ignoring timeless principles respected by our predecessors.”
CNN Legal Analyst Renato Mariotti attacked Rosenstein accusing him of a double standard saying he failed to call out Attorney General William Barr.
“You speak up about Comey failing to ‘follow established policies and procedures’ but stood silently beside Barr when he misled the public about Trump,” Mariotti said.
Mariotti also whined and accused President Trump of “using his power to try to quash the investigation of him and his friends.”
Rosenstein responded to Mariotti by saying: “Notice how this pundit completely misses the point and thereby illustrates it.”

Rosenstein, then went after MSNBC analyst Matthew Miller, who claimed the inspector general was setting a dangerous precedent by saying Comey ignored FBI policy.
Miller tweeted:
Asinine. Comey did what he did because the president was actively trying to dismantle DOJ’s normal way of operating. The AG and the DAG were both complicit, so Comey had no where else to take his concerns. It must be nice to live in the context-free world inhabited by the IG. https://t.co/UTiBWNjJYX

Rosenstein fired back:
Another pundit illustrates my point: In 2016, he agreed policy violations “should trouble anyone who believes in the rule of law and fundamental principles of fairness.” Many employees dislike supervisors, but most keep faith with government institutions. https://t.co/Mip2yDbCra https://t.co/c0oGJqNxYL

You almost get the impression that Rosenstein was really caught in a tough spot the past couple of years, and now he’s cutting loose. I didn’t always like the way Rosenstein did things however, I love the way he handles the press!
