Schumer Gets Desperate Prepares ‘Nuclear Option’
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer made an ultimatum that if the GOP blocks the House’s corrupt voting rights bill he will try to change Senate rules and get rid of the filibuster.
“We must ask ourselves: if the right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy, then how can we in good conscience allow for a situation in which the Republican Party can debate and pass voter suppression laws at the State level with only a simple majority vote, but not allow the United States Senate to do the same?” Schumer wrote, claiming that they “must adapt” and “must evolve.”
“I was very encouraged by Chuck Schumer’s letter … and that the Senate had to, he used the word evolve. Let’s hope that that evolution starts very soon,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told supporters.
However Schumer has a big problem, he doesn’t have the votes. Both Senator Manchin and Sinema have said they will not vote to get rid of the filibuster and Sinema (Democrat Arizona) has already said she will not vote for HR1.
“Senator Sinema has asked those who want to weaken or eliminate the filibuster to pass voting rights legislation which she supports if it would be good for our country to do so,” said her spokesperson John LaBombard. He told furious Democrats that the bill could “rescinded in a few years and replaced by a nationwide voter-ID law, nationwide restrictions on vote-by-mail, or other voting restrictions currently passing in some states extended nationwide.”
Just one year in Biden’s term is pretty much done.
Once the Republicans take over Biden’s agenda is over and 2023 will start the primary season for both parties because there is no way Joe is running again.
