Talarico Calls Parents Abusive Over Gender Denial
A fresh video clip shows James Talarico calling parents abusive for denying their child’s gender identity. This Democrat running for U.S. Senate in Texas made the comments during a 2019 legislative hearing. He stated that refusing to acknowledge a child’s gender identity is harmful behavior. According to reports, labeling it as abuse might not happen, yet it remains undeniably abusive.
The clip resurfaced as he tries to win over voters in a red state. He argued that some cases where parents do not affirm gender could border on abuse. Fox News reported that Talarico opposed a bill designed to protect parents from abuse charges in these specific custody cases. He claimed ruling out such behavior as abuse was dangerous for vulnerable kids.

He later doubled down on this view in a committee meeting. Talarico noted that some individuals truly view the refusal to recognize or acknowledge a child’s gender identity as abusive conduct. He added that such actions are destructive to the child. This stance contradicts his current campaign pitch as a moderate who respects family rights.
Talarico also faces scrutiny over where his campaign cash actually comes from. He tells voters that all his donations come from hard-working Texans. RedState reported that he made this claim while in California collecting checks from wealthy elites. The fundraising event tickets cost between $1,000 and $27,000 each.
He has made at least four trips to California to court big donors. One recent donor was billionaire Reid Hoffman, who gave $10 million to Talarico’s super PAC. According to newly filed Federal Election Committee records, this massive sum came from a billionaire with ties to the tech industry. Talarico claims he rejects corporate PAC money, yet the records show otherwise.

This hypocrisy hurts his credibility with everyday families. He attacks billionaires while accepting millions from them. RedState noted that he was literally in Los Angeles just days after claiming he only takes money from Texas workers. The gap between his words and his actions is wide and growing.
Republican opponents are using these past remarks to attack his character. Zach Kraft, a spokesperson for the RNC, called Talarico a sick individual for pushing sex changes on kids. Fox News cited Kraft stating that only perverts and pedophiles obsess over children’s private areas as much as James Talafreako. The attack highlights the depth of the controversy.

Talarico has tried to walk back his earlier comments. He admitted he missed the mark on how he spoke about these issues. However, the video evidence of his original stance remains clear. He voted against a bill that would have stopped courts from considering gender denial as abuse. He even supported an amendment stating that rejecting a child’s gender identity is abuse under Texas law.
The race between him and Ken Paxton has become a national spotlight. Washington Examiner reported that Talarico’s strong polling in a Republican state has drawn intense scrutiny. His opponent, Paxton, condemned racism but pointed to Talarico’s past divisive comments on race and gender. The debate now centers on who truly respects Texas families.
Parents need to know who represents their values in the Senate. A candidate who calls their parenting abusive cannot protect their children’s future. Talarico warned that dismissing such cases as non-abuse is, in his view, a dangerous approach. That is a dangerous standard for any parent to face in court. The voters in Texas must decide if this is the leader they want.
