An Old Rhino In The Senate Is About To Face A Day Of Reckoning After Voting To Impeach Trump
Republican (in name only), Senator Lisa Murkowski is about to face a day of reckoning after she voted to impeach former President Trump earlier this year, her primary challenger is destroying her in the polls.
GOP primary challenger Kelly Tshibaka is well ahead of Senator Lisa Murkowski by 15 points mainly due to her voting to convict former President Donal Trump of inciting an insurrection on January 6th.
Tshibaka, Alaska’s Commissioner of Administration, has a very favorable rating inside the GOP and with Trump supporters.
Murkowski, on the other hand is seen as a rhino and has a long history of caving on big issues.
Data is showing that Murkowski isn’t just unpopular with Republicans she has a 63% unfavorable rating of people from both parties.
“She represents the state badly and her county even worse,” Trump said. “I do not know where other people will be next year, but I know where I will be – in Alaska campaigning against a disloyal and very bad Senator.”
Murkowski was one of the seven GOP senators that voted to convict Trump of inciting the incursion at the Capitol.
Tshibaka is running on tough immigration, pro-Second Amendment, and anti-abortion. These are all issues that Murkowski has caved on during her long tenure in Washington.
Politico has also reported that former Murkowski consultants are leaving her and working with Tshibaka, who is also hiring former Trump campaign officials.
Tshibaka has tapped National Public Affairs, a consulting firm made up of Trump’s top 2020 campaign advisers, to help oversee her effort. Former Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien, deputy campaign manager Justin Clark and battleground states director Nick Trainer, who relaunched the firm after the presidential election, will serve as Tshibaka’s senior advisers.
The candidate has also signed on Tim Murtaugh, who was communications director on Trump’s reelection effort, to serve as a senior communications adviser. Mary Ann Pruitt, an Alaska-based political consultant who was a senior figure on Murkowski’s successful 2016 reelection campaign, has abandoned the senator and is working for Tshibaka.
Consultants that work for rhino’s are like rats, they know when the ship is going down. If you see them sucking it up to work with a Trump endorsed candidate there is little question that Murkowski is about to be unemployed and Tshibaka is going to be the next Senator of Alaska.
