Two GOP Are Coming Out of the Ashes and Into the Light
Remember when “Annie” sang about the sun coming out “Tomorrow?” Well, that really did happen Wednesday morning for Republicans in a couple of places where there was some deep darkness.
Kari Lake is on the verge of coming back and winning against Katie Hobbs in the Arizona gubernatorial race after trailing all through the night.
And in Colorado, Lauren Boebert, who was left for dead on Tuesday in her race for Congress, came back with a vengeance and only trails by just over 60 votes with 95% of the votes counted.
Boebert is hated on the left and this race was one that Democrats were gloating over, so it will be a punch to their party gut if she pulls it out.
“There’s certainly a path to victory,” Boebert spokesperson Ben Stout told The Hill.
There are two counties in the spotlight as the remaining votes are being counted, Pueblo and Mesa. They will play a key role in determining who will win this race.
Boebert’s opponent, Frisch, is confident that Pueblo is a left-leaning area and should produce more votes for him. But Mesa could go in favor of Boebert, it produced votes for Trump in 2020, and it has already produced votes for Boebert at 58% to 42% for Frisch.
Boebert, a freshman lawmaker, has created her stir politically for supporting Trump’s election fraud claims and refusing to wear a mask on the House floor.
Frisch had this to say about Boebert, “Lauren Boebert received 51 percent of the vote in 2020, she did not win her home county, those that know her don’t care for her and a lot more people know her now that did before. And my math said that if I could accumulate 10 percent of her prior voters and some amount of undervoting — you know, Joe O’Dea is gonna earn more votes than Lauren Boebert in the same district, we could put together kind of a pro-normal coalition, and that’s exactly what we are playing out.”
I don’t think he anticipated it being this close.
62 votes with 5% still uncounted.
