Vance has Back and Forth Interview Appearing On ABC
Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) clashed with ABC News host Martha Raddatz during a tense interview on This Week, where the two debated the severity of illegal alien crime in the U.S.
The heated exchange focused on the recent rise of Venezuelan gangs, including the Tren de Aragua, taking over apartment complexes in cities like Aurora, Colorado. Raddatz appeared to downplay the issue, which prompted a strong rebuke from Vance.
Raddatz interrupted Vance as he began discussing the criminal activities linked to the gangs, saying, “The incidents were limited to a handful of apartment complexes,” and adding that local law enforcement had already acted on the concerns. Her characterization of the situation as “a handful of problems” set off Vance, who responded with frustration.
“Martha, do you hear yourself?” Vance fired back. “Only a handful of apartment complexes in America were taken over by Venezuelan gangs, and Donald Trump is the problem, and not Kamala Harris’s open border?” He emphasized how fed up Americans are with rising crime and how political leadership, in his view, fails to grasp the severity of the situation.
Vance continued by highlighting what he sees as a direct connection between the crime surge and the Biden administration’s immigration policies, specifically Vice President Kamala Harris’s reversal of Trump-era border enforcement measures.
“When you let people in by the millions, most of whom are unvetted, most of whom you don’t know who they really are, you’re going to have problems like this,” he said, pointing to Harris’s 94 executive orders as contributing to the crisis.
Later, Vance took to X (formerly Twitter) to underscore his point: “The only acceptable number of American apartments overrun by criminal gangs is zero.” He criticized what he perceived as dismissiveness from Harris’s camp and the media, framing the issue as emblematic of a larger failure in national leadership.
