Vermont University Blows Jill Biden’s Claim About Children Out of The Water
Two pediatric infectious disease specialists at the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine have blown former Vice President Joe Biden’s wife, Jill, claims about children out of the water.
Biden has stated that schools can’t open until cases go down because it’s too dangerous and said if he’s elected he’ll give $30 million to schools to help fight the virus so schools can open. Jill Biden said during a video conference with the American Federations of Teachers leaders:
“I just wish we could vote today, because Joe has a strategy for getting our schools back.
And that includes, first and foremost, listening to the CDC and the doctors and the scientists to tell us when it is safe to go back. And then when we go back … that we are safe and that we have what we need.”
She continued, “It’s got to come from the top, and that’s why we have got to change the leadership in this country. I just can’t say it more strongly.”
Hey Jill! Here’s some science for you…
Benjamin Lee, MD and William V. Raszka, Jr MD have published a commentary titled “COVID-19 Transmission and Children: The Child Is Not to Blame”
The conclusion reached is that children rarely transmit the coronavirus and that schools should reopen, with safety protocols in place.
The report also cited another recent study published in Pediatrics that found children very rarely transmit the Chinese COVID-19 virus:
A number of people asking me: but what about getting teachers & staff infected? We address this in detail. Children do not appear to be a significant source of transmission of this #coronavirus. pic.twitter.com/dyewcLg7KU

More from the University of Vermont Medical school report:
In the new Pediatrics study, Klara M. Posfay-Barbe, M.D., a faculty member at University of Geneva’s medical school, and her colleagues studied the households of 39 Swiss children infected with Covid-19. Contract tracing revealed that in only three (8%) was a child the suspected index case, with symptom onset preceding illness in adult household contacts.
In a recent study in China, researchers’ contact tracing demonstrated that of the 68 children with Covid-19 admitted to Qingdao Women’s and Children’s Hospital from January 20 to February 27, 2020, 96% were household contacts of previously infected adults. In another study of Chinese children, nine of 10 children admitted to several provincial hospitals outside Wuhan contracted Covid-19 from an adult, with only one possible child-to-child transmission, based on the timing of disease onset.
In a French study, a boy with Covid-19 exposed over 80 classmates at three schools to the disease. None contracted it. Transmission of other respiratory diseases, including influenza transmission, was common at the schools.
Raszka noted that it was “striking” to see that the data indicates adults – not children – are the drivers spreading the virus.
Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany was right science is on the Trump Administrations side:
“The science should not stand in the way of this…the science is very clear on this…the science is on our side here. We encourage for localities and states to just simply follow the science. Open our schools.”@Acosta is a Hack.
