Veterans Stand Up To Rep. Omar Who Supports Plan To Cheapen Their Sacrifice
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn) has voiced support that would cheapen a benefit given to veterans that have sacrificed their lives to serve their country. Of course, this is the same woman that didn’t stand to honor Tuskegee Airman Charles McGee and laughed during a Democrat press conference while discussing soldiers killed in Iraq, she obviously has disdain for our military service members.
Omar reposted an op-ed written by the leader of a Democrat strategy group, Portside Strategies, CEO Will Fischer, the op-ed claims the GI-Bill (a benefit given to solders that help pay, or pay for college) should be available to everyone.
Omar posted the op-ed with this quote, “Imagine what it would do for our country and those who live here if we were to take the ethos behind the original G.I. Bill and apply it to everybody—canceling all student debt and making public colleges, universities, and vocational schools tuition-free.”

A couple of things about Will Fischer, he is a former Marine, purple heart recipient, and Iraq war veteran. However, he is the founder of a Democrat lobbying firm that boasts of deep ties with the Democrat party. His homepage on his website reads, “With deep ties to Democratic offices throughout Capitol Hill, and a track record of success, Port Side Strategies specializes in building support for progressive legislation.”
So this wasn’t an op-ed from a veteran talking about how he wished everyone could get the benefit, this was propaganda to push free college tuition for everyone and they used a Democrat politician who is popular with young progressive socialists to give it life.
But veterans weren’t having it and quickly stood up to Omar in response.
“I’m a recipient of the GI Bill,” responded Chris Manning, a veteran who ran for Congress in New Mexico as a Libertarian in 2018. “The GI Bill was earned by agreeing to serve my country for six years and to put my life at risk as an infantryman in Afghanistan. It wasn’t something just given to me with nothing expected in return. Don’t cheapen our sacrifice w/ this comparison.”

American veterans earned the right to have the GI Bill because of what they have done for our country. Just handing out college cheapens what has been reserved for our veterans.
My dad was a WWII vet who went to Brown University on the GI Bill. He still worked as a truck driver on the side to pay for his family’s food and housing while attending school full time.
He didn’t get “free” college. He paid his way with his service to the nation. https://t.co/lRQ6oRsck5

I’m a veteran. When I was active duty, I contributed to my GI Bill. It wasn’t free.
