VIDEO: CBS 60 Minutes In Hot Water Over Hit Piece Attacking DeSantis, Deceptively Edited Exchange, ‘It’s Wrong. It’s Wrong. It’s A Fake…
On Sunday, CBS’s “60 Mintues” aired a hit piece on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
The news show claimed that after DeSantis announced a partnership with Publix grocery stores to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine in their pharmacies, Publix donated $100,000 to his PAC.
Sharyn Alfonsi asked DeSantis how the situation is “not pay to play.”
“So, first of all, what you’re saying is wrong. That’s a fake narrative,” DeSantis outlined. “I met with the county mayor, I met with the administrator, I met with all the folks at Palm Beach County, and I said, ‘Here’s some of the options: we can do more drive-thru sites, we can give more to hospitals, we can do the Publix.’ And they said, ‘We think that would be the easiest thing for our residents.’”
“The criticism is that it’s pay to play, Governor,” Alfonsi stated.
“It’s wrong. It’s wrong. It’s a fake narrative,” DeSantis shot back. “I just disabused of the narrative, and you don’t care about the facts because, obviously, I laid it out for you in a way that is irrefutable, and so it’s clearly not.”
Alfonsi insisted, “Isn’t … the nearest Publix to the Glades 30 miles away?”
“No, no, no,” the governor stated. “You’re wrong.”
60 Minutes ignores deadly scandals with Cuomo and Newsom in order to try to invent one with DeSantis. (Gasp: large grocery chain gives political contributions!) The FL Governor’s real crime? Not following the hysterical lead of the propaganda press, thereby making them look bad. https://t.co/qK0FG5DwMg

DeSantis is right, it is a fake narrative.
In early March 2021, the Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management Jared Moskowitz (Democrat) said the “scandal” was false.
This idea why @Publix was picked has been utter nonsense. We reached out to all pharmacies and they were the only one who at the time could execute on the mission. The federal government delayed the federal pharmacy program and we yet again stepped up first to serve more seniors https://t.co/IJJgS9T2dn

Moskowitz also jabbed at the Biden Administration pointing out that they are ahead of the federal government pharmacy rollout plan:
This idea why Publix was picked has been utter nonsense. We reached out to all pharmacies and they were the only one who at the time could execute on the mission. The federal government delayed the federal pharmacy program and we yet again stepped up first to serve more seniors.
After the 60 Minutes piece even Moskowitz called the report fake news:

Conservative writer AG Hamilton noted that CBS edited DeSantis response and posted a video showing the governors full comments. That video has now been removed from Youtube however Fox News did publish a partial transcript of the sections edited out by 60 minutes:
“First of all, the first pharmacies that had [the vaccine] were CVS and Walgreens and they had a long-term care mission, so they were going to the long-term care facilities. They got the vaccine in the middle of December, they started going to the long-term care facilities the third week in December to do LTCs,” DeSantis told Alfonsi. “So that was their mission, that was very important and we trusted them to do that. As we got into January, we wanted to expand the distribution points.”
“So yes, you had the counties, you had some drive-thru sites, you had hospitals that were doing a lot, but we wanted to get it into communities more. So we reached out to other retail pharmacies: Publix, Walmart, obviously CVS and Walgreens had to finish that mission and we said we’re going to use you as soon as you’re done with that,” DeSantis continued.
DeSantis explained that Publix was the “first one to raise their hand” to say they were ready to distribute the vaccine. He also told Alfonsi that Palm Beach County was struggling to distribute the vaccine but now 75% of seniors in the area have been vaccinated.
Funny how CBS goes after DeSantis however, ignores the New York Governor Cuomo.
