Video: CNN Goes Into A Full Panic After DOJ Announcement About McCabe
Jeffrey Toobin and others at CNN seemed to be having panic attacks after the news that the DOJ has recommended criminal charges against Andrew McCabe.
McCabe who has just signed on with CNN as a network contributor has been trying to convince federal prosecutors that he should not be prosecuted for lying. McCabe had lied to investigators over how he spoke to journalists about the investigation into Hillary Clinton. The IG report claimed that McCabe “lacked candor” and McCabe’s legal team had disputed that claim; however his legal team’s appeal went up in flames.
As the CNN panel was discussing the news anchor Brooke Baldwin acknowledged McCabe as a network contributor. Toobin was beside himself and started “gushing” all over McCabe.
“This is an extremely unusual prosecution. Andy McCabe had the right to speak to reporters. That is beyond dispute. As deputy director of the FBI, he had the right to speak to reporters. He has an impeccable record, one of the most honored and successful FBI agents of his generation.”
Toobin claims it’s difficult to understand where McCabe lied and demanded that McCabe had the right to talk to reporters.
“You never have the right to lie to an inspector general,” Toobin eventually acknowledged. “If you lie, it’s a crime, but lying to an inspector general is rarely prosecuted. Lying in these very esoteric circumstances where – it’s about this conversation, that conversation – is rare. It looks like he’s going to be indicted, but you know, good luck to the government proving this case.”
The only thing Toobin said that was correct was, “if you lie, it’s a crime.” Yes, it is and now McCabe is hopefully headed to jail.
Lastly, I don’t remember Scooter Libby getting this much compassion from the press when he “lied,” do you?
