Video: Comey Tries To Take A Victory Lap But Is Smacked Down By Inspector General While Testifying
Things didn’t go so well for the disgraced former FBI Director James Comey when he tried to take a victory lap, he was smacked down by the Inspector General during testimony on Wednesday.
Comey wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post and posted it on his twitter saying, “So it was all lies. No treason. No spying on the campaign. No tapping Trumps wires. It was just good people trying to protect America.”

Comey wrote in his op-ed before Inspector General Horowitz testified and said:
“But most important, Horowitz’s report found that the investigation was opened and conducted according to the rules, finding no “evidence that political bias or improper motivation influenced [the] decision” to start it or how to run it. Those of us who knew that truth had to remain silent while a torrent of smears and falsehoods flowed from the White House, from some congressional committee chairmen, the attorney general and Fox News personalities. The FBI’s work was perceived as a threat to the president, and many Republicans apparently believe that all threats to Trump must be destroyed, no matter the cost to the nation.
The painful part is that millions of good people believed what they heard. My 89-year-old mother-in-law, watching Fox News in her Iowa assisted-living facility, became convinced that I was going to jail. I repeatedly assured her that there was zero percent chance of that. “It’s all made up,” I would tell her. But I couldn’t say that publicly because the investigation wasn’t done yet. Like the others accused of treason by the president, I respected the process and cooperated with the inspector general.
Well, the wait is over, and those who smeared the FBI are due for an accounting. In particular, Attorney General William P. Barr owes the institution he leads, and the American people, an acknowledgment of the truth.”
Comey should have listened to Piers Morgan who said, “unless you’re absolutely 100% certain you’ve won something, it’s best not to hold a victory lap.” Boy, was he right!
On Wednesday, Inspector General Michael Horowitz testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee when Senator Lindsey Graham informed Mr. Horowitz that the former FBI Director said he was vindicated of wrongdoing. Graham then asked Inspector General Horowitz what he thought of that.
“I think the activities we found here don’t vindicate anybody who touched this[FISA],” Horowitz testified.
Comey earned more criticism from Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) who tweeted, “I see James Comey has a victory lap op-ed out, making it clear he didn’t read the report. Which is at least consistent with his management style of apparently not reading FISA applications.”
