Video: Couple Is Removed From NBA Game For Supporting Hong Kong Protesters
A couple attending a scrimmage Philadelphia 76ers basketball game against the Chinese team Guangzhou Loong Lions were removed from the stadium because they held signs up and shouted support for Hong Kong.
Sam Wachs and his wife attended the game on Tuesday and they both held sign that read “Free hong Kong.” Security confiscated their signs and told them they had to leave. Not willing to bow to those that hate freedom Mr. Wachs began yelling “Free Hong Kong!”
“There’s no foul language, no politics.’ I asked ‘Why not?’ They said, ‘Don’t give me a hard time,’” Wachs told Action News. “I think it’s shameful, harsh reaction.”
This incident comes after the NBA tried to censure Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey for declaring his support for the pro-democracy demonstration in Hong Kong. The NBA forced the GM to delete his tweet and issue a statement claiming it was an “extremely disappointed by the inappropriate comment and understands he seriously hurt feelings of the Chinese fans.”
The NBA faced incredible backlash in the public and Washington and pointed to China’s disgusting human rights record.
It gets worse for @nba. Per @FinancialTimes they provided statements that were translated differently in Chinese and English. Talk about duplicitous. Just pathetic. pic.twitter.com/H242uecC5H

Trying to control the bleeding the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver came out with a statement tweet saying that he supports and thinks free speech is important. Of course, he said this after he forced Morey to delete his tweet and that decision blew up in his face.
“I think as a values-based organization that I want to make it clear … that Daryl Morey is supported in terms of his ability to exercise his freedom of expression,” he said. “What I also tried to suggest is that I understand there are consequences from his freedom of speech, and we will have to live with those consequences.”
Silver did admit that the NBA is going to take a huge financial hit from the Chinese government.
“There is no doubt, the economic impact is already clear,” Silver told Kyodo News in Japan. “There have already been fairly dramatic consequences from that tweet, and I have read some of the media suggesting that we are not supporting Daryl Morey, but in fact we have.”
Chinese state-run television said the country is “strongly dissatisfied” with the NBA and has ceased broadcasting NBA games and removed all the NBA’s promotional material.
“We’re strongly dissatisfied and oppose Adam Silver’s claim to support Morey’s right to freedom of expression,” CCTV said in a statement. “We believe that any remarks that challenge national sovereignty and social stability are not within the scope of freedom of speech.”
You would think the NBA would love to be at the forefront of freedom vs. communism but they bowed their head to the Chinese until America spoke up. If free speech is important then why did Wachs get removed from the game? Here’s the video of the communist NBA kicking out people that love and support freedom.
