San Francisco, California businesses are furious with Mayor London Breed and city officials because pillagers are ransacking their stores.

In coordinated raids, looters are rushing out of vehicles into high end retail stores, grabbing whatever they can and then escape.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that over the weekend looters pillaged a number of high end stores:

Union Square was in turmoil Friday night, as looters and vandals ransacked high-end retailers including Louis Vuitton and Yves Saint Laurent. Dramatic videos on social media showed masked people running with their arms loaded with goods, followed by a swift police response as officers ran to a car and broke windows with batons while a patrol car raced up to block it from leaving.

The mayhem was a vivid contrast to the night before, when luxury Swiss watchmaker Omega celebrated the opening of its new Union Square boutique with a ritzy event at the de Young Museum, where supermodel Cindy Crawford walked the red carpet with her daughter, Kaia Gerber.

Retailers are furious and are demanding Breed resign.

“The mayor and her entire team should resign,” said John Chachas, whose family owns luxury retailer Gump’s on Post Street in Union Square. “You can’t really run a retail enterprise if you have to board up the windows five weeks before the critical Christmas selling season.”

The high end retailing is considering leaving the city.

“The fact that the city can’t maintain sufficient order that businesses can operate (in) without fear of being damaged,” he said, has given him the impression that city leaders have “no understanding of the concept of how an orderly city is necessary for commerce to function.” That means “we can’t operate a business. … “So we will evaluate our options to be elsewhere unless this nonsense ends.”
