Video: Ousted Navel Secretary Takes A Cheap At President Trump As He Walks Out Of The Door
Ousted Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer took one last parting shot at President Trump as he was walking out of the door Monday.
Defense Secretary mark Esper dismissed Spencer after learning that Spencer attempted to break the chain of command by speaking with White House officials and cut a deal that Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher would be allowed to retire with his SEAL Trident insignia if Trump would not get involved.
Gallagher was cleared of murder charges and demoted one rank after he was found guilty of photographing the corpse of an ISIS fighter he was accused of killing. However, earlier this month Trump intervened restored his rank and publicly ordered that the Navy let Gallagher retire with his rank and Trident.
“What message does that send to the troops? That you can get away with things. We have to have good order and discipline. It’s the backbone of what we do,” Spencer said, firing parting shots at Trump in a Monday interview with CBS.
“I don’t think he really understands the full definition of a warfighter,” he continued, responding to Trump’s defense of Gallagher in a press conference earlier that day. “A warfighter is a profession of arms, and a profession of arms has standards that they have to be held to and they hold themselves to.”
Spencer did admit that he was wrong for going behind Esper’s back but, claimed his staff knew what he was doing.
“I will take the bad on me for not letting him know I [tried to strike a deal with the White House], but [Esper] was completely informed to this because his chief of staff was briefed on it,” Spencer said.
So I did a quick little search of Mr. Spencer to check out his resume. Spencer was a Marine Corps aviator from 1976-1981, for the next 15 years he worked on Wall Street and during the Obama Administration worked on the Defense Business Board, a Pentagon advisory panel. This guy is basically a privileged banker and Pentagon bureaucrat, I feel pretty comfortable saying I don’t think this guy knows what a warfighter is. Eddie Gallagher is an American hero who served his country with honor and when the truth came out the bureaucrat brass in Washington were embarrassed.
A warfighter/honorable man doesn’t take a cheap shot at his boss as he’s kicked out the door as you did.
