VIDEO: Pence Says He Is ‘Proud’ Of His Actions On January 6th to Certify Election, ‘I Will Always Be…
It appears whatever relationship between former vice president Mike Pence and former president Donald Trump is over.
During a speech at the Ronald Reagan presidential library Pence said, “I will always be proud that we did our part on that tragic day to reconvene the Congress and fulfilled our duty under the Constitution and the laws of the United States.”
“There are those in our party who believed that in my position as presiding officer over the joint session that I possess the authority to reject or return electoral votes certified by the states,” Pence said. “But the Constitution provides the vice president with no such authority.”
“I understand the disappointment many feel about the last election,” Pence said. “But there’s more at stake than our party and our political fortunes in this moment. If we lose faith in the Constitution, we won’t just lose elections – we’ll lose our country.”
Last week, while in Orlando, Florida Pence was booed and called a “traitor.” While in New Hampshire Pence called June 3 a “dark day” and said that he and Trump continue to speak but do not see “eye to eye” about January 6th.
What Pence is doing is typical Republican backstabbing, January 6th was over six months ago and we are headed into the midterms. People like Pence should be focused on the conservative brand, preparing candidates in the battle to take the House and rallying the base. All Pence is doing is justifying his actions and propping himself up.
We’ll see how “proud” Pence is after the ballot audits are done.
