Video: The Media Tries To Trip Up Sen McConnell Over Impeachment And He Stops Them Cold

Liberals were looking for a gotcha moment today and they were sorely disappointed. They were hoping McConnell would slip up or say that he would ignore Senate rules and they didn’t get what they were looking for.

During an appearance on CNBC McConnell was asked if he would take up impeachment against the President if the House votes to charge the President.

“I would have no choice but to take it up,” McConnell said and like it or not he’s absolutely right. There are rules and McConnell is following them (unlike the Democrats). However, what’s most important is what he said next “How long you are on it is a different matter.”

In the event, the House impeaches the President the Senate would hold a trial to convict and remove the President. McConnell has no choice by chamber rule and would have to go through the process. But, the way the senate is composed there is no way Trump is going to be impeached and from what the Senator just said it sounds like they aren’t going play any games and protect President Trump.

At least 226 House members (all Democrats and one independent) favor some kind of action on impeachment. The House only needs 218 votes to impeach the President.

McConnell shot back stating the Democrat House is not focused on legislation and has a “thin record” of actually accomplishing anything.

“If I were the speaker, I wouldn’t want to go into next year’s election having it credibly said that all you did for the whole Congress was harass the president and try to remove him from office,” he said.

I could be totally wrong but I think this impeachment investigation being done by the Democrats is a ploy to try and get their voters to the polls next year. Democrats know they have nothing, as a matter of fact, they are freaking out over what the Trump Administration is uncovering.

They have a real problem, the economy is good, their candidates are terrible, and I believe they could lose the House in 2020. You gotta wonder if they are banking on the Senate not impeaching the President in an attempt to motivate their base to vote and “weaken” Trump leading up to the election.

Why would I say this? Today Eric Holder made a statement saying Republicans are going to cheat to win in 2020, the man didn’t even mention impeachment.

I think this impeachment affair is the last card the Democrats have in a poor deck and they are going to lose.
