Wait ‘Til You See What DeSantis Is Doing About Gas Stoves – Watch
You gotta love Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the way that he goes toe to toe with the crazy liberal agenda. DeSantis has added a new proposal to his “Framework for Freedom” budget proposal, and it should make folks like Democratic California Governor Newsom burn.
In Florida, thanks to the governor, gas stones will now be tax-free!
“They want to go after the gas stoves,” the Republican governor announced, “and so we’re saying that we want you to be able to buy those free of charge from the state of Florida for taxes.”
As crazy as it sounds gas stoves have recently become one more thing in the ongoing culture wars. On January 9, U.S. Consumer Product Safety commissioner Richard Trumka said that gas stoves were a “hidden hazard.”
Trumka suggested that they should be restricted in American homes. He then shared a tweet assuring the public that he would not be “coming for their gas stoves.”
DeSantis said that the new measure needed to be added to his “Framework for Freedom” proposal because it just needed to be done. “They want your gas stove and we’re not gonna let that happen […] This is ridiculous,” he said.
In America, gas-burning stoves are being used in 35% of homes. Opponents of the stove issue say that they account for about 13% of the country’s childhood asthma cases. This is according to a December 2022 study published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
The craziest opposition focuses on climate change.
“We cannot reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the level required by climate science if we continue to burn gas in our homes and buildings,” Rachel Golden, co-leader of the Sierra Club’s building electrification initiative.
Believe it or not, there are now 100 cities or counties that either prohibit or incentivize the replacement of gas stoves in new houses.
In Florida, there’s an incentive to buy one.
