Watch: Pelosi Scorns American Voters And Says They Will Not Get A Say About Impeachment
During her weekly press briefing, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi flat out said that the American people will get no say on impeachment.
Nancy Pelosi was asked about the timeline of the impeachment process and said, “I keep saying to people, impeachment is about the truth and the Constitution of the United States. Any other issues that you have, disapproving of the way the president has dealt with Syria, whatever the subject is, reluctance, the cowardice to do something about gun violence, the cruelty of not wanting to help our Dreamers and transgender people, the denial about the climate crisis that we face, the list goes on, that’s about the election. That has nothing to do with what is happening in terms of our oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution and the facts that might support. And we don’t know where this path will take us, it could take us down further path but the two are completely separate.”
Then a reporter asked, “At what point might you say let’s just let the voters decide.”
Pelosi responded saying, “Who said that? The voters are not going to decide whether we honor our oath of office. They already decided that in the last election.”
You can hear the disdain for the American voter in her voice.
Of course, you won’t because you are afraid of the American voter, like we reported earlier you just got smoked in an election in Louisiana after a Trump rally. The American people are not happy with you Nancy and yet you [the Democrats] continue to do everything behind closed doors.
Pelosi is also afraid to take a vote in the House because Democrat representatives were getting an earful from constituents in districts that President Trump won in 2016 and in purple districts. Apparently, Democrat leadership reached out to members and I would bet they didn’t have the votes.
Aides that work for the Democrat leadership did say that Pelosi could reverse course and would stage a vote if warranted.
“There’s no requirement that we have a vote, and so at this time we will not be having a vote,” Pelosi told reporters during a last-minute press briefing in the Capitol.
Pelosi’s decision comes as the President and Republicans in the House and Senate are calling on Democrats to hold formal hearings and be transparent in the process.
“The minority has been shut out of the process,” Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), the ranking member on the Foreign Affairs Committee, told reporters Tuesday. “It is being done in a … classified briefing room behind closed doors when it should be in front of the American people so that all can see in a very transparent way the testimony of these witnesses.”
Last week the Trump Administration sent a letter to Pelosi informing her that they won’t cooperate with any requests from Democrats until they make the impeachment inquiry official.
Democrat spin artists are claiming the argument to make the hearings public are a distraction.
“I don’t consider it necessary myself,” said Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-N.J.). “I think all these process arguments are diversions, put out there by people who don’t want to take about the substance because the substance is so incredibly damaging.”
I think the Democrats have run out of ammunition and have no choice but to keep things in the dark. President Trump called their bluff, Pelosi bowed to the extremists in her party, and now they got nothing.
