Watch: Swing State Democrat Backpedals On Impeachment And Her Response To A Constituent Will Make You Cringe
Freshman swing-district Democrat Rep. Cindy Axne (D-IA) said on Saturday that she “did not run” to “impeach” President Donald Trump even though she is backing the impeachment inquiry.
The swing-district Congresswoman traveled to Mount Ayr, Iowa and met with some of her constituents to discuss the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement as well and the impeachment inquiry against President Trump came up in conversation.
One of the constituents asked Rep. Axne if she did vote for impeachment in the recent vote to formalize the rules and procedures surrounding the impeachment process. Indeed Axnew was one of the 230 Democrats that voted for the resolution to advance the inquiry into President Trump.
Rep. Axne said, “No, no.”
Then another constituent asks the Congresswoman if she backs the impeachment inquiry against President Trump.
Rep. Axne replied, “What I’m for is doing the hard work for the people of this district. I didn’t run for this seat to impeach the president. Go back and check my 18 months of running for this office; there is nothing in there about that.”
“I’m out here working hard to make sure rural America has what it needs and that we are serving its farmers,” she explained.
In October, Axne doubled down on her support for impeachment by suggesting that she swore to protect the Constitution.
Her response makes me cringe and is why I can’t stand Democrats she did not flat out lie but she certainly did not tell the truth. This is one of the many reasons why President Trump got elected, he is a straight shooter and tells it like it is. President Trump doesn’t give BS answers like what Rep. Axne gave while meeting with constituents.
President Trump won Axne district in 2016 and a recent poll in Iowa showed that only 6% of voters in the state think impeachment is important.
