Watch: Baltimore Students Taunt Melania Trump During Remarks On The Opioid Crisis
The First Lady Melania Trump was in Baltimore, Maryland Tuesday and was met with boos from high school students during her planned speech addressing the nation’s opioid crisis.
The incident occurred when the First Lady was announced and came on stage for the B’More Youth Summit at the University of Maryland’s Baltimore County Event Center.
The event was organized as part of Melania’s “Be Best” campaign which focuses on online safety and opioid abuse, the event was co-sponsored by Mark Wahlberg’s Youth Foundation, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
During her speech, First Lady Melania Trump called on all leaders to learn more about the opioid epidemic and help young people learn more about the benefits of a drug-free lifestyle.
“I am in this fight with you and I am fighting for you,” Trump said. “I know each one of you has hopes and dreams for the future, whether it is college, joining the military, or playing a sport, your future will be determined by the choices you make.”
“Using drugs will only slow you down and prevent you from achieving those goals,” she added.
An average of six people a day die in the State of Maryland according to a report published by the Baltimore Sun. President Trump donated his third-quarter salary to fighting the opioid epidemic. The president will transfer $100,000 to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health, which oversees federal health agencies.
What’s disgusting is that during her husband’s time in office former First Lady Michelle Obama could go anywhere in the country and be treated with respect. Our First Lady is speaking with leaders about saving the lives of young people from opioid addiction and they treat her like crap. You never saw the Obama’s transfer $100,000 of their own money to fight addiction.
