Watch: Whoops! AOC is Pretending to be Handcuffed, But Slips a Fist Into the Air to Celebrate
It’s the DC reality show that just has too little reality.
Democrat Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York just keeps on pretending that she has what it takes to lead in this country. And this week AOC “pretended” to be handcuffed while protesting outside of the United States Supreme Court.
Police “arrested” at least 17 House Democrats for blocking traffic outside of the building in a planned “civil disobedience” abortion protest.
Those who were arrested along with AOC were Carolyn Maloney of New York, Cori Bush of Missouri, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania, Nydia Velazquez of New York, Barbara Lee of California, Jackie Speier of California, Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, Sara Jacobs of California, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Andy Levin of Michigan, Alma Adams of North Carolina, Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey, Veronica Escobar of Texas, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, and Jan Schakowsky of Illinois.
But here’s the real deal fake news. There was video footage shot that shows a smiling AOC being escorted away from the court as band music was playing in the background.
At one point, AOC holds her hands behind her back as if she is handcuffed, but then mistakenly lifts on fist in the air and shakes it. She then quickly puts in back behind her in the handcuffed position.
You can imagine how much fun people had with this reality show antic online. Matt Whitlock tweeted: “Have to wonder if any of the protesters alongside her ever thought ‘wait .. aren’t you an elected member of Congress with the power to pass legislation on this issue? Why are you over here protesting? Pass a bill!’”
Greg Price wrote, “She pretends to be handcuffed, raises her fist in a salute, and then goes back to pretending to be handcuffed.”
Rep. Omar’s office alerted the media to the “civil disobedience shortly before it took place, they had to have their cameras there to catch their act.
