What Have the Voters Said About Fetterman’s Debate Performance? – Watch
There’s hardly anywhere to go when you start the debate with this line, “Good night everyone.” But that is exactly how John Fetterman began his debate with Dr. Mehemet Oz for the Pennsylvania Senate seat.
Fetterman, who suffered a stroke in May, was not able to give coherent responses and much of what he tried to say just did not make sense.
Dr. Oz, who has a seasoned presence in front of the camera, totally outperformed Fetterman. He gave great answers and made sure Fetterman had to face all of his very bad policies.
Democrats should not have put Fetterman out there, even in their desperation to get some momentum again in the Senate race.
Even MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough had to admit how bad things looked for the Democrats. But other colleagues on the left took an offensive against Republicans after the debate.
Liz Plank, from MSNBC, accused the GOP of having to “rely on ableism to win.” Ableism is discrimination done by able-bodied people against the disabled.
Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) said that Fetterman’s “answers were very direct.” Fetterman’s team tried to back the sentiment up and said that he spoke better that night than he did in the primary. It’s hard to imagine that they really believed that.
But the real question is not what other politicians or the media are saying about Fetterman’s ability or disability, the real question is what voters are thinking. This goes deeper than any spin people are trying to put on the contested debate.
According to a WPXI poll, 82% of voters believe Dr. Oz was the winner of the debate compared to 18% who said Fetterman won.
There are hardly ever numbers that widely different after a debate, that is how bad things are going for Fetterman. Dr. Oz’s odds are plainly soaring right now and the midterm election is just days away.
