Where in the World is Kamala Harris?

Who cares about Carmen Sandiego…where in the world is Kamala Harris? The vice president has simply disappeared from any public events focused on migration, and it is one of the main responsibilities that she was given by the president. We’ve not seen any activity from Harris in this area for over seven months. 

The last time Harris led an event on migration was on June 7, 2022. She announced that there was almost $2 billion in additional funding to address the “root causes” of migration. 

But she has not led an event on this issue and she did not accompany President Biden on his first trip to the border. 

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in December that she did not have any updates on what Harris has been doing on migration. And Kamala’s office did not respond to questions from the media on the question, “Has she done anything on migration” since June?

It seems that the vice president has been focused on other issues not assigned to her including abortion, diplomacy, and diversity.

Harris spoke at a Capital Pride Festival, which was a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, in Washington, DC.

And a large part of her summer was spent pursuing abortion rights after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in May. In fact, since her last migration-related event, Harris has had at least 28 meetings with leaders about reproductive rights. 

Another sign of what is in the vice president’s head is that she participated in at least 10 events for the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Could she be making plans for 2024?

This is all taking place even though Biden appointed Harris to lead the migration efforts of the administration in March of 2021. He said, “it’s not her full responsibility and job, but she’s leading the effort.”

But where in the world has Kamala Harris been?
