Who Paul Ryan Is Hosting Fundraisers For Tells You Everything You Need To Know About The GOP
Former House Speaker, Paul Ryan – who was partially responsible for derailing Trump’s policies early in his first term – is hosting fundraiser and it tells you everything you need to know about the GOP.
Paul Ryan will be hosting a fundraiser for Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) at the end of March.
The fundraiser will be a “virtual event” scheduled for Thursday, March 25. The invitation is asking donors to give “suggested contributions” of $2,900 to “attend,” or $5,800 to be a “co0host” of the Ryan-Cheney event.
Another interesting development is that the invitation supporting Cheney – who represents a district in Wyoming – is asking donors to make checks payable to an address in Alexandria, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC. It appears Cheney’s campaign headquarters is not in the district she represents but in the nations capitol.
Cheyney was censured by the Wyoming GOP after she voted to impeachment President Trump after he left office. It is expected that Cheney will be primaries and will lose her seat. During his speech at CPAC, former President Trump called her out called for her to be removed from office.
Former Speaker Ryan, who was responsible for Republicans losing the House in 2018 because he failed to go along with Trump’s agenda left office with a terrible approval rating.
“It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the face of the pro-amnesty, pro-war swamp is trying to rescue Cheney,” a GOP official told Breitbart News. “While Liz Cheney may be royalty in the swamp, she has done more to divide the Republican Party and hinder our chances of taking back the majority than any political figure in the country. Any so-called ‘Republican’ donor who gives money to support her divisive efforts should be ashamed of themselves and are directly working against efforts to build a winning and unified coalition to retake the House in 2022.”
Cheney, is facing challenges from State Senator Anthony Bouchard and state Rep. Chuck Gray and polling shows that she is in very real danger of losing her seat. Her standing in the party has fallen like a hot rock very similar to what happened to Speaker Ryan.
Since losing the House in 2018 the GOP under Rep. Steve Scalise and Rep. Kevin McCarthy have (slowly) begun to turn things around. After the 2020 election cycle Pelosi lost a record number of seats and hold a very slim majority that she may lose in 2022.
The old Republican guard is doing everything they can to hold onto power that is slipping away.
