Woman Removed From Congressional Hearing
Monday’s House hearing on the COVID-19 pandemic turned into a fiery spectacle as tensions flared among both spectators and members of Congress. The hearing featured Dr. Anthony Fauci, who led the COVID-19 response under both the Trump and Biden administrations, facing intense scrutiny from lawmakers.
The hearing’s intensity peaked when a woman in the audience repeatedly interrupted Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia of California during his questioning of Dr. Fauci. The situation escalated to the point where Capitol police had to escort her out of the room. “Take your Starbucks with you,” Garcia shouted as she was removed, according to the New York Post.

Republican Rep. Brad Wenstrup of Ohio, the chair of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, opened the session with a pointed critique of Dr. Fauci’s handling of the pandemic. Wenstrup accused Fauci and the health agencies he led of stifling debate and enforcing policies without sufficient scientific backing.
“Americans were aggressively bullied, shamed, and silenced for merely questioning or debating issues such as social distancing, masks, vaccines, or the origins of COVID,” Wenstrup stated. He accused Fauci of promoting a singular narrative and dismissing alternative viewpoints. Quoting Fauci, Wenstrup said, “If you disagree with me, you disagree with science,” and then countered, “Science doesn’t belong to any one person. I was never taught that science turns a blind eye to hypotheses. They serve to be proven or disproven. And done so with irrefutable facts.”

Wenstrup criticized several specific policies, including the six-foot social distancing rule, which he claimed lacked sufficient scientific support. He reminded Fauci of his significant influence and the public’s reaction to what they perceived as heavy-handed and hypocritical policies.
“Dr. Fauci, you oversaw one of the most invasive regimes of domestic policy the U.S. has ever seen, including mask mandates, school closures, coerced vaccination, social distancing, and more,” Wenstrup asserted. He emphasized Fauci’s accountability due to his prominent role and high salary, noting that his position made him more, not less, answerable to the public.

Wenstrup further accused Fauci of becoming so powerful that any public disagreement with him was censored on social and legacy media platforms. “This is why so many Americans were so angry — because this was fundamentally un-American,” he said. He concluded by emphasizing the public’s desire for education over indoctrination and their preference to make health decisions in consultation with trusted personal doctors.
As the hearing continued, it highlighted the deep divisions and strong emotions surrounding the pandemic response, reflecting ongoing debates about public health policies and the balance between expert guidance and personal freedoms.
