‘The View’ Host Comments On Trump
As the 2024 presidential election draws closer, speculation about a potential rematch between former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden is on the rise. The cohosts of ABC’s hit talk show “The View” weighed in on this possibility during Monday’s broadcast, discussing what a potential debate between the two candidates might look like.
One cohost, Sara Haines, expressed her concerns about Trump’s debating style, saying that he often talks over his opponents, gaslights, and uses other tactics to manipulate the conversation in his favor. She suggested that in order for a debate to be fair, Trump would need to be placed in an isolation booth and fact-checked in real time. Haines argued that without such measures, Trump would easily dominate the debate.
In response, Whoopi Goldberg made a cheeky remark, saying that she wished former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had kicked Trump “where it hurts” during their 2016 debate. The comment drew a laugh from her fellow cohosts but also highlighted the tension and animosity that still exists between the two candidates.
Joy Behar brought up a valid concern about Biden’s ability to hold his own in a debate. She noted that especially in light of his recent verbal fumbles, there is a growing concern about whether or not he would be able to effectively debate Trump. This sentiment was echoed by Haines, who argued that while Trump’s base is unlikely to be swayed, Biden’s performance could potentially make or break the opinions of undecided voters.
The conversation on “The View” also touched on the role of the moderators in a potential Trump vs. Biden debate. Haines, a self-proclaimed supporter of debates as a cornerstone of democracy, argued that without the ability to cut off microphones or censor Trump in real time, the debate would be heavily skewed in his favor. Behar interjected, saying that given Trump’s tendency to speak over others, an unbiased moderator would be crucial in maintaining a fair and respectful dialogue.
Sara Haines demands that if Biden and Trump were to debate, they need to isolate Trump in a phonebooth and censor him when he speaks.

Goldberg added her perspective, saying that in the 2016 debates, she wished Clinton had fought back more against Trump. In her opinion, a good kick to the crotch might have silenced him more effectively than Clinton’s measured responses.
While the conversation on “The View” was largely focused on the hypothetical Trump vs. Biden debate, it also touched on some very real concerns about the potential outcome of such an event. With both candidates having passionate supporters, there is a lot at stake for both sides. Haines pointed out that, unlike Trump, Biden has the most to lose in a debate. One misstep or mistake could sway undecided voters in the wrong direction and ultimately harm their chances of winning the election.
As the 2024 election approaches, discussions surrounding the potential rematch between Trump and Biden will only continue to heat up. And while the cohosts of “The View” may have their own opinions and suggestions for such a debate, ultimately it will be up to the candidates themselves to decide how they will face off against each other.
It remains to be seen whether or not we will see a rematch of the last election, but it’s clear that the stakes will be high and the eyes of the nation will be watching closely.
