Abrams Explains Grant During Interview
Alright, folks, buckle up, because this one is a doozy. We’re talking about a massive $2 billion taxpayer-funded handout, a shady non-profit with basically zero track record, and—surprise, surprise—Stacey Abrams at the center of it all. If this doesn’t make your blood boil, you might want to check your pulse.
So here’s the deal: Power Forward Communities, a so-called “coalition” that barely existed on paper, somehow landed a $2 billion grant from the Biden administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This all came out after Lee Zeldin, the new head of the EPA under Trump, started following the money and found that billions had been quietly “parked” with outside organizations in a mad dash to spend before Biden left office. And wouldn’t you know it? One of those groups just happened to be connected to Stacey Abrams.
Now, let’s talk about Power Forward Communities for a second, because this part is almost too ridiculous to believe. The organization had taken in exactly $100 in total revenue in 2023. That’s right—one hundred bucks. Yet, somehow, it was entrusted with $2 billion in taxpayer money. Even better? The group was so unqualified that the grant agreement required it to take a training course on how to make a budget—after it had already been given the money. If you’re not shaking your head yet, I don’t know what to tell you.
So how does Abrams fit in? Well, she wasn’t listed as being directly paid by Power Forward Communities, but she was involved through Rewiring America, a partner organization in the coalition that received money as a pass-through from the grant. That’s an awfully convenient way to say, “Oh no, I didn’t get money from this group,” while simultaneously benefiting from the pipeline of cash flowing into the system. If that sounds like a classic Washington grift, that’s because it is.
And let’s not forget, Abrams has been here before. The last non-profit she was involved in had to pay a $300,000 fine in Georgia for multiple campaign finance violations. But since there were no real consequences, here she is again, right back in the non-profit money game, except this time the Biden administration was handing out taxpayer money like it was Monopoly cash.
Zeldin himself summed it up best, calling this entire scheme a “gold bars” operation—a nod to the corruption scandals that have plagued the Biden administration. He slammed the deal as being filled with self-dealing, conflicts of interest, unqualified recipients, and basically no oversight. And guess what? The DOJ and FBI are now investigating.
So what does Abrams have to say about all this? Well, she went on MSNBC (because of course she did) and tried to spin this as an effort to help poor people lower their electric bills. According to her, the money was used for “decarbonization of homes” and buying new appliances like water heaters and EV chargers. That all sounds great on paper, but here’s the problem:
- Why did a brand-new, completely unproven organization have to serve as the middleman?
- Why wasn’t this money given directly to existing groups that actually know what they’re doing?
- Where’s the transparency about how the money was actually spent?
The press, of course, is already working overtime to “fact-check” this story and assure everyone that everything is fine, nothing to see here! But we don’t have real answers. We don’t know how much of this grant money was wasted on overhead and salaries. We don’t know how much actually made it to struggling households. And we certainly don’t know why a person with Abrams’ history of shady financial dealings keeps ending up at the center of these stories.
