Biden’s Attorney Responds To Report
On Sunday, the personal lawyer for President Joe Biden, Bob Bauer, claimed during an interview that Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on Biden’s handling of classified material was a “shoddy” piece of work that contained numerous “misstatements of fact” from Hur’s interview with Biden. This comes after the report revealed that Biden “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials,” but that no charges should be brought against him due to his alleged cognitive issues.
Bauer went on to call the report a “shabby work product” and criticized the length of the investigation, which lasted over 15 months. He also claimed that the report contained “characterizations, factual misstatements, and pejorative comments” about the president that are inconsistent with Department of Justice (DOJ) policies and norms. These remarks have since been criticized by legal experts, with Bauer himself labeling the report as not what prosecutors do.
During the interview, Bauer also stated that there were “misstatements of fact” in the report that came from Biden’s interview with Hur. He further criticized the legal analysis provided by Hur, calling it “totally inappropriate.” However, when asked by the interviewer if he was in favor of getting the interview transcripts declassified and released to the public, Bauer deferred to those who specialize in that process.
“This past week alone, the president, in public remarks, mixed up the leaders of France, Germany, and he referred to Egypt as Mexico. Does the president have any memory problems?”

Bauer’s claims come after a press conference held by Biden on Thursday, where he attempted to demonstrate his mental fitness but instead became agitated with reporters who raised concerns about his age and claimed he was the most qualified person to be president. During the press conference, Biden mixed up the presidents of Egypt and Mexico, forgot the name of the church where his deceased son got his rosary, and also struggled to remember key details from the special counsel’s report.
When asked about the press conference and if Biden has memory problems, Bauer claimed that he does not. He then proceeded to talk about the special counsel’s report and did not address the numerous mistakes made by Biden during the press conference.
Biden’s handling of classified material has been a topic of concern throughout his presidency. The special counsel’s report was initiated after a whistleblower came forward, alleging that Biden had willfully disclosed classified information to foreign officials. The report found that he did indeed disclose classified information, but that due to his alleged cognitive issues, no criminal charges should be brought against him.
The issue of Biden’s mental fitness has also been a point of debate, with some critics questioning his ability to serve as president. Bauer’s defense of Biden’s mental acuity and his criticism of the special counsel’s report may further fuel this debate.
As of now, it is unclear if there will be any further action regarding the release of the interview transcripts or if there will be any consequences for the alleged “shoddy work product” of the special counsel’s report. This is a developing story, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
In the meantime, the spokesperson for the White House has released a statement declaring that President Biden is completely capable of fulfilling his duties as president and that his mental acuity has never been called into question during his time in office.

The release of the special counsel’s report and Bauer’s remarks have also sparked a conversation about the role of the Department of Justice and its independence from the executive branch. Some are concerned that Bauer’s criticism of the report is a threat to the independence of the DOJ and its ability to conduct unbiased investigations.
Critics are calling for the release of the interview transcripts to shed light on the alleged misstatements of fact and inaccuracies in the report. They argue that the public has a right to know the truth and that the transparency of the DOJ is crucial to maintaining trust in the government.
This controversy may also have an impact on the upcoming midterm elections, as Biden’s mental fitness and his handling of classified material could become key campaign issues. For now, it remains to be seen how this will all play out and if any further action will be taken.
