Braier Gives Comments After Interview
In a revealing behind-the-scenes moment, Fox News host Bret Baier shared that his much-anticipated interview with Vice President Kamala Harris on Special Report was abruptly cut short—thanks to her own team’s insistence. According to Baier, four of Harris’s staffers were frantically waving their arms, signaling for the interview to end, leaving several of his pressing questions unanswered.
Baier, visibly taken aback by the chaotic finish, explained to his panel after the broadcast that he had more to ask Harris but was forced to “dismount” as her team intervened.
“You know, I’m talking like four people waving their hands like, ‘it’s gotta stop!’” Baier recounted, emphasizing the pressure to wrap things up sooner than anticipated. This led to a less-than-smooth conclusion, with Baier awkwardly acknowledging the abrupt end on air by telling Harris, “Madam Vice President, they’re giving me a hard wrap.”

The interview, which was initially scheduled for 25 to 30 minutes, was whittled down further as delays mounted. Baier noted that Harris didn’t arrive until about 5:15 P.M., pushing their allotted time even closer to the deadline for airing the segment. “We were supposed to start at 5 P.M. and… this was the time they gave us,” Baier said, frustrated by the shrinking window to conduct the interview.
What was originally planned as an in-depth discussion got reduced to a rushed segment, further hampered by what Baier described as campaign efforts to “ice the kicker”—a sports metaphor suggesting that the campaign was deliberately stalling and cutting time short.
This chaotic exchange didn’t just stay behind the scenes. After the interview, senior campaign adviser David Plouffe took to social media, characterizing Baier’s questions as part of a biased “ambush.” The Harris campaign’s framing of the interview as an attack has sparked discussion about how the Vice President handles high-pressure situations and why her team appeared so eager to cut things off.

Baier himself hinted that Harris should do more of these interviews, implying that a greater media presence might help improve public perception. After all, this isn’t the first time Harris has struggled during high-profile interviews.
Her exchange with Baier on immigration policy, during which she faced tough questions about the administration’s handling of border security, was met with mixed reviews. Harris’s responses were detailed, but the constant back-and-forth interruptions and the ultimate early conclusion seemed to leave the discussion unresolved.
