House Dem Comments On Musk Working With Trump Admin
In what is shaping up to be a fierce showdown between progressive Democrats and the Trump administration, Representative Greg Casar (D-TX), Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, has issued a stark warning: if Democrats regain control of the House in 2026, they plan to investigate Elon Musk, President Donald Trump’s senior advisor.
Casar didn’t mince words. In an escalating rhetoric that has drawn both applause and ridicule, he outlined a three-pronged approach: accountability for Musk’s actions, enforcement of federal employment laws, and the initiation of congressional investigations. “We need to hold him accountable,” Casar said, arguing that Musk’s continued role as a federal employee beyond May 30 is “illegal” under current law. He asserted that a Democratic majority would use its subpoena power to launch investigations not only into Musk, but potentially other billionaires who, he claimed, might be enriching themselves by exploiting proximity to presidential power.
Yesterday was incredible. I was honored to be joined at my thirst strike by workers in Texas and across the nation—and by lots of colleagues pushing for federal heat safety protections.

Casar went further, speculating on potential abuse of government power and federal resources. He floated concerns that Trump’s tariffs might be used as geopolitical levers to benefit Musk, possibly trading foreign concessions for private contracts. He also alleged the possibility of Musk manipulating the Federal Aviation Administration to award contracts to his companies — all while sidelining employees responsible for aviation safety. “There can be consequences that are much greater than Musk just losing his billions of dollars in federal contracts,” Casar warned.
Casar’s track record suggests he’s no stranger to dramatic demonstrations, though not all of them have landed well. In July 2023, he embarked on a widely publicized nine-hour food and water fast, pushing for federal heat protections for workers. While Democrats hailed the move as a show of dedication, critics on social media panned it as performative — especially when contrasted with the rigorous 25-hour fasts observed during Jewish holy days like Tisha B’Av and Yom Kippur. The timing of Casar’s fast inadvertently clashed with those solemn observances, prompting commentary from conservative commentators such as Ben Shapiro.
So grateful for leaders like @GregCasar who believe in fighting with all they’ve got for the rights of the people they represent. https://t.co/phSEEf3l0f

Beyond symbolic gestures, Casar has positioned himself as a leading voice on the far-left flank of the Democratic Party. In late 2024, he led a coalition of 20 Democrats urging the Biden administration to halt arms shipments to Israel during its war against Hamas — a controversial move that placed him at odds with pro-Israel members of Congress and intensified intraparty divisions.
Casar’s hardline stance against Musk adds yet another layer to the ongoing culture war engulfing American politics. For many Republicans and conservative critics, his threats of investigations read less like a pursuit of justice and more like political theater. But for Casar and his progressive allies, it’s a clarion call to challenge the nexus of wealth, power, and influence that they believe defines the Trump era.
