Illinois Democrat Legislator Gives Comments On School Controversy
Illinois State Representative Bob Morgan dismissed allegations that middle school girls were forced to change in a locker room with a transgender student, calling the claims “a lie” during a session of the Illinois General Assembly on Tuesday.
The allegations were brought forward by Deerfield resident Nicole Georgas, who filed a federal civil rights complaint after her daughter allegedly encountered the situation. The issue was raised by Republican State Representative Adam Neimerg, prompting Morgan to defend the school district and criticize Neimerg for addressing the matter.
“I’m really proud of my community who stood up for those who need to be defended and protected, making sure we have great schools,” Morgan said. “Because it’s a lie!”
Folks, a boy shouldn’t be changing in a girls’ locker room. Just like they shouldn’t be playing in girls’ sports. It’s common sense. God made boys boys and girls girls. It’s that simple.

Georgas responded directly on social media, questioning Morgan’s basis for his statements. “Really [Rep. Morgan?] Was your daughter in the locker room? Because mine was! How dare you accuse them of lying,” she wrote.
Georgas alleges that her 13-year-old daughter was using the girls’ locker room when a transgender student was also present. After refusing to change in front of the student, Georgas says school administrators pressured her daughter and other students to comply. According to her complaint, school officials, including Assistant Superintendent Joanna Ford and Assistant Principal Cathy Van Treese, entered the locker room and required students to change into their uniforms.
Really @BobMorganIL was your daughter in the locker room ? Because mine was! How Dare you accuse them of lying . You are disgusting & dispicable and I hope one day I get to play the audio for you ! https://t.co/3er2uEfQOz

Georgas brought her concerns to the school board last week, arguing that the school’s policy violates the privacy rights of female students. She also cited former President Donald Trump’s executive order on gender-based sports and facilities. School administrators, however, reportedly stated that their legal counsel advised them that transgender students are allowed access to gender-aligned facilities under state law.
Deerfield Public Schools District 109 issued a statement asserting that no student is required to change in front of others and that private changing areas are available. The district emphasized its adherence to Illinois law and state education policies.
