Pentagon Responds To Allegation About Green Room
What do you get when liberal media gatekeepers run out of real scandals? A hit piece over a chair and a mirror. That’s the latest in the saga of legacy media outlets desperately trying to paint Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth as some sort of egomaniacal prima donna—because, wait for it—he had a green room modestly upgraded near the Pentagon briefing room. This is the journalism we’re supposed to trust?
CBS News breathlessly reported that Hegseth “ordered a makeup studio” at the Pentagon, citing—you guessed it—anonymous sources. The headline practically dripped with accusation: vanity, waste, ego. But as usual, the facts got in the way. According to the Department of Defense itself, the upgrades were minimal, used existing inventory, and cost mere thousands—not the initially implied tens of thousands. No stylists, no glitz. Just a chair, a better mirror, and some lights. And the cherry on top? Hegseth does his own makeup. That’s right. A former TV guy applying his own powder before interviews.
News: @SecDef Hegseth recently ordered modifications to the green room next to the Pentagon press briefing room to add a makeup studio that can be used to prep for TV appearances, sources told @CBSNews.
The price tag for the project was several thousand dollars.
The space…

Yet CBS seemed determined to sell it like Hegseth was getting ready for a runway debut at taxpayer expense. And of course, they worked in the obligatory Fox News connection—as if that, in and of itself, is disqualifying. Funny how CNN and MSNBC veterans are routinely lauded for joining administrations, but a Fox alum? That’s “concerning.”
The press secretary and Pentagon spokespeople were swift and clear: the story was false. But instead of correcting course, CBS tried to quietly update the article—after the fact—once the DOD Rapid Response team posted pictures of the actual space and called out the misinformation. So the original hit job ran wild across the social sphere, while the cleanup effort was buried in edits and afterthoughts. Classic mainstream media strategy: publish first, correct quietly.
Does the fake news NOT have anything better to do?
1. No lighted mirror.
2. It didn’t cost thousands.
3. The items that were added to the GREEN ROOM (not a makeup studio) came from existing inventory. This story is TRASH! https://t.co/hOrF5VNqcg pic.twitter.com/FQzXX4QgpW

And then there’s the stunning hypocrisy. Remember when Biden used a completely fake White House set for public appearances? Where were the breathless exposés back then? Where were the anonymous source-laced takedowns? Oh right—wrong party, different standards.
All this while Secretary Hegseth is focused on rebuilding military readiness and warfighting capability after years of decline under “woke-first” defense priorities. The man’s working to put steel back in the spine of our armed forces, but CBS wants you to believe the real issue is a countertop and a director’s chair.
So the desperate and worthless media wants to talk about a “green room” in the Pentagon…..🤔🤔 pic.twitter.com/JgCI9cKPXQ
