Van Jones Comments On Trump Decision
In a dramatic turn of events, former President Donald Trump officially clinched the Republican Party’s nomination during yesterday’s roll call. Alongside this announcement, his choice of Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his running mate has sent shockwaves through various political circles. While many anticipated a strong reaction, the intensity and nature of the responses have been nothing short of explosive.

CNN’s Van Jones provided perhaps the most incendiary commentary, labeling Vance as a “virus.” This rhetoric is particularly striking given the recent assassination attempt on Trump on July 13. Jones, who has occasionally offered balanced critiques of his own party, appears to have crossed a line with this characterization. He stated:
“Trump…is an instinctive, impulsive, intuitive nationalist. JD Vance is an ideological nationalist. That’s a much more dangerous virus because he can polish this stuff and make it seem palatable to people. He can sell this stuff to Silicon Valley. He can sell this stuff other places. And what it does is it locks the Republican Party on a pathway that I think is dangerous for the world. Again, the Ukrainians are now in deep trouble. NATO is now in deep trouble. Trump could have gone with a Nikki Haley and signal to the world, ‘Hey, listen, I gotta give stuff to my base, but I’m not going to abandon the world.’ This pick is a horror on the world stage.”

Jones’ comments reflect a broader sense of alarm and distress among both liberal media figures and neoconservatives, who see Vance’s selection as a significant shift in the Republican Party’s direction. The old guard, long accustomed to wielding influence, is witnessing their sway diminish, and it’s clear they’re not pleased.

Former Biden White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield also added fuel to the fire, urging Democrats to refocus their attacks on Trump. This call to action further highlights the panic and disarray within some Democratic circles as they grapple with Trump’s renewed political vigor.
Former top Biden staffer and current CNN contributor Kate Bedingfield just said Democrats need to “turn their fire on Donald Trump” — days after a deranged lunatic shot him in a failed assassination attempt.

The selection of Vance has indeed upset many, but it also signifies a decisive move by Trump to solidify his influence and signal a new era for the Republican Party. Vance, seen as an ideological nationalist, brings a polished and articulate vision that aligns closely with Trump’s base. This shift is unsettling for those who hoped for a more traditional, perhaps more globally cautious, Republican ticket.
J.D. Vance selection seems to anger pro-big business libertarians, neocons and culture war woke liberal Democrats the most. The same trifecta that Trump 2016 ran against.
