Netanyahu Address Congress
Let’s dive into the latest developments from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the United States this week. On Wednesday, Netanyahu addressed a joint session of Congress, discussing various pressing topics, including Israel’s ongoing conflict with the terror group Hamas.
Netanyahu’s visit was marred by pro-Hamas protests both outside and inside the Capitol, starting on Tuesday. These protests turned violent, with clashes between rioters and police, resulting in the use of pepper spray to restore order. Additionally, some rioters sought to denigrate the U.S. flag, further escalating tensions.

Addressing these violent protesters, Netanyahu didn’t hold back. He delivered a powerful message, stating: “Well, I have a message for these protestors: When the tyrants of Tehran who hang gays from cranes and murder women for not covering their hair are praising, promoting, and funding you, you have officially become Iran’s USEFUL IDIOTS!” This statement underscored his strong stance against the extremists and their backers.

Netanyahu also took the opportunity to acknowledge former President Donald Trump’s contributions to Israel, particularly highlighting the Abraham Accords, which he referred to as “the Abraham Alliance.” He expressed gratitude to Trump for brokering these historic accords, receiving a standing ovation from many in the audience.

Moreover, Netanyahu addressed the assassination attempt on Trump on July 13th, condemning it as “a dastardly attack on American democracy.” He emphasized the importance of non-violence in democracies, a sentiment that resonated with those present.
In a gesture of unity, Netanyahu praised President Joe Biden as a long-time ally of Israel, acknowledging Biden’s 50-year friendship with the nation. This genuine mention of Biden’s support highlights the enduring bond between the two countries.

Interestingly, during Netanyahu’s speech, House Speaker Mike Johnson was present behind him, but Vice President Kamala Harris was notably absent. Instead, Senate Foreign Relations Chair Ben Cardin (D-MD) was seen. Harris, along with about half of the House and Senate Democrats, boycotted Netanyahu’s speech. This marked a significant departure from past protocols and raised questions about future diplomatic engagements.
