Elon Musk Unveils Roadster That Defies Physics In One Second
Elon Musk’s new Tesla Roadster hits 60 mph in under one second. This is not a video game or a special effect. The car actually flies upside down on a curved ramp during a live show in Texas. The vehicle reached 0 to 60 mph in just 0.81 seconds during the test.
Musk stood on stage at a SpaceX rocket site near McGregor on Thursday night. He told the crowd they would see “crazy stuff tonight” before the reveal. The demonstration proved the car is real and not generated by artificial intelligence. Musk insisted on a live audience to verify the stunt with their own eyes.

After the car landed safely using built-in thrusters, Musk gave a simple answer. He looked at the engineers and said, “Well, it worked.” This was his reaction to a project he once thought was crazy. The car performed rolls and “crazy gymnastics” while hovering above the ground. It even drove upside down by using a fan suction system on the bottom.
Tesla Vice President Lars Moravy explained the technology in plain terms. He said the car uses fans to pull up to 2Gs of force. This suction holds the vehicle against the ramp while it moves. Moravy joked that the car “really sucks” and could even suck a tennis ball through a hose. The design borrows directly from SpaceX rocket technology.
@ClayTravis It can also “fly” on the road; 0-60 in under a second 😳 https://t.co/SiQmgjoAZZ

This vehicle represents a major shift in how we think about transportation. Tesla will produce the Roadster as its sole manual vehicle, according to his wish. The car seats two people and uses a steer-by-wire system for control. It can reach speeds above 230 mph and travel at least 300 miles on a charge.
The cost to get one of these machines is not for the average family. The “performance” version requires a $50,000 deposit to reserve a spot. The “Thrust” model with extra rocket thrusters needs a $250,000 deposit. A special “rocket” version is listed as “invite only” for select buyers. Production is not expected to start until 2028 after years of delays.

Musk told the crowd this was a collaboration between the world’s best car company and the world’s best rocket company. He said the car could eventually reach half the speed of sound, or Mach 0.5. The vehicle lifted itself over a Cybertruck and other cars in the Tesla fleet during the show. It climbed to roughly 21 feet, then flipped and landed.

RedState Deputy Manager Susie Moore asked on social media if they “turned Teslas into cats.” The car used ten thrusters from SpaceX to hover and spin in the air. Musk laughed when he promised the production would actually happen this time. The reservation page is open now for those with the capital to commit. This is the last best driver’s car before the world changes again.
