Harris Teams Posts About Union Decision
A recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris by the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU), which represents federal workers, including IRS agents, has raised eyebrows on social media, sparking widespread concern among conservative commentators. Many users took this endorsement as a sign that Harris, if elected, would drastically expand the IRS’s power, leading to increased taxation and government oversight.
Joey Mannarino, a conservative political commentator, took to X (formerly Twitter) to warn his followers: “The IRS Agents Union just endorsed Kamala Harris. That should tell you all what her plans are for us. Get ready to be taxed to death. VOTE TRUMP!” His post tapped into a growing sentiment that Harris’s policies, particularly concerning the IRS, could burden Americans with heavy taxes.

The NTEU’s endorsement was accompanied by a statement applauding Harris’s efforts to increase the IRS’s funding, especially through the Biden-Harris administration’s Inflation Reduction Act. The Act included an $80 billion boost to the IRS over the next decade, which is expected to fund the hiring of 87,000 additional IRS agents. NTEU National President Doreen Greenwald highlighted Harris’s commitment to “treating federal employees with respect” and ensuring that the government works for all Americans.
While the NTEU views Harris as a candidate who aligns with their values and federal workforce investment, her critics see this as further evidence of overreach. Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz expressed his concerns in an op-ed, noting that the Biden-Harris administration’s 2025 budget proposal would provide the IRS with an additional $104 billion—far more than its usual yearly funding. He questioned the need for such an enormous increase, warning that this could lead to greater government control over Americans’ finances.
The fact that the IRS is unionized is horrific, let alone that Kamala Harris thinks their endorsement is a good thing https://t.co/zbb8OZuPrk

Conservative voices on X did not hold back. Digital strategist Greg Price sarcastically noted that if the IRS, FBI, military-industrial complex, and even foreign actors like Iran and Putin were endorsing Harris, it should be a red flag for voters. “For the love of God, vote for the other one,” he urged. Similarly, the popular podcast duo, The Hodge Twins, responded to the news with a flurry of red flag emojis, underscoring the growing alarm among their audience.
The debate over the IRS’s expanding role under Harris, should she become president, has struck a chord among voters wary of more federal involvement in their lives. Conservative commentator Comfortably Smug echoed this frustration, writing, “The fact that the IRS is unionized is horrific, let alone that Kamala Harris thinks their endorsement is a good thing.”
TRUMP: “Kamala Harris was just officially endorsed by IRS agents… I would rather not have that endorsement.”
