Here’s What Raskin’s Impeachment Plan Reveals About Trump
Democrats took control of both houses of Congress on Tuesday, a shift that has immediately sparked threats to remove President Trump from office. According to the New York Post, Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland has already expressed interest in starting impeachment proceedings against the President. On Nov. 4, 2026, as the final steel beam entered his new White House ballroom, Trump signed a hard hat for a worker just days before this occurred.
The victory speeches from the new Democratic leaders were sharp and direct. Minnesota Sen.-elect Peggy Flanagan told the crowd, “We will rip ICE apart,” according to the New York Post. Michigan Sen.-elect Abdul El-Sayed also spoke at his victory party, where he sarcastically called Vice President JD Vance “habibi” who would have to eat crow when sworn in. These comments signal a fierce opposition to the current administration’s policies right out of the gate.
Not everyone in the Democratic party celebrated quietly. Some voices from the establishment attacked those who tried to break ranks. James Carville was brutal in his comments about Haley Stevens, who had defected from the party in Michigan during the campaign. Carville said Stevens was not even “worth a used condom,” the New York Post reported. To any Democrat attempting to rebel against the socialist takeover, she was viewed by him as a warning.
Outside the party, the rhetoric has turned even darker. NYU marketing professor Scott Galloway called Elon Musk a “traitor to the West.” Galloway suggested that Musk should be executed, stating, “We lined up the Rosenbergs against a wall.” Such extreme language marks a deep divide in the national conversation just as the new Congress begins its work.
Per NBC News, in his first appearance since election night, President Trump addressed reporters regarding midterm results, the future of Republican leadership, the war with Iran, and the possibility of impeachment. The President had secured the border and confronted Iran, but those actions resulted in higher gas prices and cost billions of dollars, the New York Post noted. Tariffs also raised prices on imported goods and were rushed through under emergency powers.
A particular tariff even singled out islands where penguins were the only inhabitants. The Supreme Court finally intervened concerning the tariffs, requiring the Treasury to return the tariff payments. Despite voter fears regarding jobs and rising utility costs, President Trump championed AI. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich had predicted the economic pain would be the “biggest single factor in the election.” He noted that the price of gasoline on Labor Day was something like $4.55 a gallon on average.
The political tremors were not felt only in the United States. Victor Davis Hanson noted that polls in British Columbia did not anticipate a conservative “tidal wave” that resulted in the Conservatives running the government, according to Daily Signal. In Brazil, Lula’s personal lawyer appointed to the Brazilian Supreme Court ordered polls to keep open two hours longer in a specific area. This move led to accusations that it helped Lula win an election he was not supposed to win, per Daily Signal.
As the new Congress convenes, the focus remains on the clash between the President’s agenda and the new Democratic majority. Stevens’ punishment by the party establishment acted as a warning to any Dem trying to rebel against the socialist takeover. The political landscape has shifted, and the battle lines are drawn in the halls of the Capitol.
